Weekend Results & Match Reports – 12/05/2018

A1 vs Dingley 0-2 Loss

A2 vs Dingley 7-2  Win

DWB Reports

Magoos put on a really strong performance to knock off the previously unbeaten Dingley and leapfrog them into 2nd place on the ladder.

The win was all set up with a big first inning stanza which saw 11 hitters come to the plate, 9 quality ABs and produced 6 runs.

Right throughout the lineup guys took advantage of the command issues of the opposition starter and then punished him when he found the zone. A bases clearly double from Shelby Roberts the big highlight.

Some execution errors with the bat and on base left a couple cheap runs on the table throughout the game meant an RBI ground out from My Favorite Player™ was the only run we managed to add thereafter so manufacturing runs will have to be a point of focus going forward rather than relying on the big inning. But we did get the big inning, so who’s complaining? (Well, I am I guess)

My Favorite Pitcher™ threw the whole game. Giving up 2 runs in the 6th inning on 3 consecutive doubles. Bloke was getting shellacked!

The 2’s do look strong when we get all our guys on the field…aaaaaaand they’re all away next week. Yay.

Under 18 vs Frankston 2-7 Loss

Darren Hiddlestone Reports

This week the U18 hosted the ladder leaders in Frankston. Again, numbers were down and we took the field with the minimum allowed.

We got the jump on them to go to an early 2-0 lead after 2 innings. Some great pitching by Rhys and some good batting by Luke (Double and Single), Tom O(Double) and Shelby(Single). Frankston then turned it on with 10 hits to find the gaps in our field. The guys improvised by dropping fielders back to try and stem the flow. Michael again was steady behind the dish. Best on ground was shared between Tom O and Rhys. Thanks to Jake and Rhys for helping us out again, and thanks to Johnno for umpiring and Michelle for scoring.
