A1 vs Bonbeach 11-0 Win
A2 vs Bonbeach 16-4 Win
Dan Ward-Bourton Reports
With Max Barrett going off on the hill for Chelt, looking more comfortable with each outing, Bonbeach opened the scoring in the bottom of the first when a regulation double play ball recorded no outs and resulted in 2 unearned runs coming in to score.
The good guys answered straight away with a big 7 spot in the bottom of the first through a combination of walks, errors and then singles from Rick Preston, Michael Hill and Yoshi Campitelli.
Bonbeach added a run in the 2nd and 3rd digs as Chelt seemed to rest on their laurels a bit before unleashing a 9 run inning to close out the show in the bottom of the 4th, highlighted by a booming double from Tom Ogilvie.
The Magoos getting it done in a couple low intensity games in a row and will need to find another gear next week against last years premiers Dandenong. As noteworthy as that contest is on the horizon, also looming heavily is that the probationary period has now ended and the team fine system begins being enforced in earnest. You are on notice, chaps.
B2 vs Dandenong 3-7 Loss
C2 vs Pakenham 15-8 Win
Damon Pettit Reports
With all senior teams at home we were down on lakeside at this week to take on Pakenham. Russell Ashen started on the mound and quickly ended the first inning with Pakenham going 3 up 3 down. Chelt went right to work scoring 4 runs. Things looked a bit shaky in the second innings with Pakenham scoring the maximum 7 runs. Home runs from Damon Pettit and Heath Dunkley got Chelt back in the game in the second as Darren Hiddlestone came in to close the game. Chelt managed to only let Pakenham score one more run while adding several more and came away with a 15-8 win.
Hits: singles to Blake Dunkley, Ruby Dale and Cooper Hiddlestone, 2 singles to Dylan Hind, a double to David Johnson, a double and a single to Darren Hiddlestone, a double and 2 singles to Russell Ashen, a home run to Damon Pettit and a single and a home run to Heath Dunkley.
U16 vs Dingley/Dandenong 9-2 Win
Max Barrett Reports
With last weeks walk over win in the books we looked forward to a much more competitive game this weeks as we came up against a mix of two powerhouse clubs Dingley and Dandenong who have combined for this year. After the clouds cleared, the baseball gods gifted us with a beautiful morning out in Dandenong. Kyle Kong took the mound and was outstanding over 3 innings of work whilst holding his own at the plate too. Kyle was relieved by Blake Dunkley who has been working on his pitching over summer and is beginning to pay off as he was perfect to wrap up the game and minimising damage.
On the offensive side we were dominant as we piled on runs from the first innings and never really looked back. The boys took their walks when given but punished balls in the gaps when the Dandy pitchers left pitches out over the plate. Nathan Kong racked up a couple of knocks, as did Lachie Stevens.
I would like to mention to Liam Christopher who played his first game over the weekend and did one of the hardest things there is to do in all of sport and that is hitting a baseball. His enthusiasm will lead him to many more hits this year.
Looking forward to the season to come! See you at training.
